About YISA: Welcome Parents

“After accompanying Zack to class and seeing first-hand how the students live, I am very impressed with your program. My family and I are also very impressed with my son's speaking ability as we traveled around China. He loves his classes and is having fun learning to speak with his new Chinese friends. The phones that the students all use seem to be a particularly good idea as they all seem to be texting friends in Chinese. What better way to learn a language than by using it for everyday types of things. Thanks again.”

Patrick Fielding, (parent of fall 2007 YISA student)
P.S. The kids love the flag football games and the organized trips.

Welcome to Yangtze International Study Abroad. We are glad that your college student is considering YISA for their study abroad experience. We commend you for supporting their interest. We believe that studying abroad is an investment in their future, and we invite you to take the time to learn more about the program they have selected. Participation in YISA will allow your son or daughter to be a part of dynamic global change while enriching their college experience and creating professional opportunities for their careers.

At YISA we are concerned first and foremost about the safety of all our participants. Together with providing a safe environment for international study, our goal is to provide your student with an academic program of the highest quality and an overall experience that will change the way they relate to the world. We recognize that you will want to be assured that your student enrolls in the best study abroad program available, and therefore want you to know the following about YISA:

  • Our faculty and administrators have extensive experience in China in the fields of education, civil service, and business, as well as long time involvement in international educational exchange.
  • YISA provides a full-time Resident Program Director who is intimately familiar with our location. The networks that our Resident Director has established with local authorities, US Consulate and Embassy personnel, and local resource providers help to ensure the greatest educational opportunities, the highest level of care, and the ability to respond to unexpected events, should they arise.
  • Seminars on safety are held every term to inform students and to keep them up to date on all issues. Current news items and bulletins are shared with all students as needed.
  • We provide cell phones to our students that allow them to contact the program’s faculty and staff from anywhere in China 24 hours a day. Someone is always available in the U.S. or in China to help solve a problem.
  • YISA contracts with AIG for comprehensive insurance for day to day health needs and emergency medical services.
  • YISA has the resources, stability and experience to respond to quickly and efficiently in the event of an emergency.

  • As you work with them to prepare for their experience overseas we invite you to call or email us with any questions you may have.

    Sincerely,
    Scott Bird, Associate Program Director
