With rapidly expanding opportunities for a highly educated population, perhaps no country has the potential to impact global learning in the 21st century as does China. American educators will benefit from an awareness of China’s emerging influence in all aspects of world trade and diplomacy. American students will be seeking to understand China’s role in the world and will be requesting opportunities to begin study of the Chinese Language. Now is the perfect time to get a head start as a 21st century educator by spending two weeks touring important sites in China with Yangtze International Study Abroad.
During the summers, YISA has been offering groups of elementary, middle, and high school teachers a chance to spend two to three weeks in China on a professional development tour designed to help them incorporate China into their curriculum at home. In addition to visiting cultural sites in Beijing, Shanghai, and Nanjing, teachers will have a chance to visit urban and rural schools in the Nanjing area, participate in lesson planning with their Chinese counterparts, and be hosted in the homes of teachers for part of their stay.
YISA faculty, who bring a high level of excellence to the coursework offered to the university students who participate in YISA’s study abroad program, will take an active role in leading discussion topics with the teachers on these professional development trips.
